Today I’m happy to welcome author Deb Kastner as she talks about her latest fictional hero and how he captured her heart. Read through to the end to find out how you can enter the giveaway.
I am super excited to guest post here at the All Betts Are Off blog today. If you don’t know me, my name is Deb Kastner and I write contemporary inspirational romances for Harlequin Love Inspired and western romance novellas under my own publishing company Daydreamz Publishing.
The majority of the heroes I write are alpha heroes—cowboys or military men who are tough on the outside with hidden hearts of gold my heroines must mine to discover. These men are often rough around the edges and rub my heroines wrong from the first page.
One day, however, as I was sitting down to outline an indie novella, a new hero surprised me, opening the door to the heroine sporting VR glasses. Imagine my surprise to meet Cam, an adorable geek hero with equally adorable twin nephews. Cam was way out of my wheelhouse and different than any other hero I’ve ever written. Brilliant and soft-spoken, he quickly wormed his way into my heart just as he did with cowgirl heroine Maisey. It was such a lovely experience to write something totally different for me.
Being an indie book, I also had the blessing of being able to put my VR-wearing hero on the cover of the book, something I doubt if I would have been able to do with a traditionally published novel. Not only that, but the horses dashing through the snow on the bottom of the cover are actually from my sister’s animal sanctuary herd (https://happyhavenfarm.wixsite.com/happyhavensanctuary).
GIVEAWAY:
So what about you? Geek or no geek? I’m giving away an eBook of The Cowgirl’s Christmas Gift to one commenter.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
When a couple of mischievous six-year-old twins show up on Maisey Gray’s property and scare her horses, she’s ready to let their VR glasses-wearing, socially-awkward guardian have a piece of her mind. She soon learns there’s much more to Cam than meets the eye, but he’s the twins’ permanent guardian and she isn’t mother material. Can an adorable set of twins, a snowstorm and a wild horse bring this cowgirl a Christmas gift she’ll remember forever?
Cam didn’t move to Hope, Wyoming in search of romance, but when he suddenly becomes the guardian of his sister’s twins, he needs neighbor Maisey’s help more than ever to make everyone’s Christmas wishes come true. Celebrating Christmas with Maisey creates a special bond. But is it virtual reality, or is it the start of a forever family?

I like geeks. They can be amazing heroes
Hi Debra. I feel the same way. They are different, but no less heroic for all that.
