A Second Chance at Love — Nike N. Chillemi

Today I’m excited to welcome Nike N. Chillemi as she talks about her book, Blood Speaks. Read through to the end to find out how you can enter to win a copy.

In BLOOD SPEAKS, the third novel in the Veronica “Ronnie” Ingels/Dawson Hughes detective trilogy, both NYC private eye heroine Ronnie and her older, dear friend Bertha Dagney get a well-deserved second chance at love. Both are widows. Ronnie’s first husband cheated on her within their first year of marriage and was murdered soon after. She’s now engaged to handsome and stalwart Texas deputy lieutenant Dawson Hughes.

As the story opens, Ronnie’s shadowy, sometime employer, who directs a clandestine organization, has gifted her with a bridal shopping spree. She and her bridal attendants will stay in a luxurious though rustic inn and have dresses made by a very unique designer in a winter-wonderland village in the mountains of Maryland. Bertha, an over-50, plus-size sweetheart of a character has recently remarried after years mourning the death of her first husband. As one of Ronnie’s bridal attendants, she’s excited about finding perfect dresses for the bridal party and is over-the-moon that Ronnie is about to remarry.

When I created widows Ronnie and Bertha in the first novel of the series, HARMFUL INTENT, I had no idea I’d be a widow a year after the release of BLOOD SPEAKS. I didn’t have a clue that the tight relationships I created between Ronnie and her female friends would be the kind of friendships I would soon rely upon in my own life. At the time of writing, I approached this trilogy with a touch of humor and have found laughter to be good medicine and essential in my new, single life as well.

A joyful heart is good medicine, But a broken spirit dries up the bones. ~ Proverbs 17:22 [NASB]

Unfortunately, a diabolical murderer is on the loose in the sleepy little village of Heritage Cove, Maryland. There is deception, betrayal, taut suspense, and conniving. Soon bodies are piling up and things get dicey for Ronnie and Bertha as the pages turn in BLOOD SPEAKS.
