Waiting It Out — Victoria Kimble

Today I am excited to welcome author Victoria Kimble as she shares about her writing journey.

I have wanted to be a writer my whole life. I just had no idea how much waiting was involved. As writers, we spend countless hours composing a story, then reading and re-reading and re-writing until every comma is in the correct place and every phrase sounds just right. By the time we send it out into the world, it has been with us for a very long time and so we’re ready for everyone else to see it.

But no one told me that once you send it out, you’ll have to wait. For weeks and months at a time. Sometimes you’re waiting for the story to be noticed, sometimes you’re waiting for it to move through the very slow, deliberate process of publication. You’ll wonder what the hold-up is, and you’ll just have to wait through that wondering.

It would be easy to let myself become grumpy and anxious during all this waiting. But therein lies the battle. As I wait for the world to read my stories, I choose to focus on other things. New projects, new connections, new research on the best ways to make my stories stand out once they are finally visible. I’m sure wiser people could have told me all this, but it took me sending my stories out into the world and seeing them published to help me learn that it’s better to just keep working on the next thing.

About Victoria’s books:

It really hasn’t been that long, but I feel like I’ve been waiting forever to introduce you to Maddie Ryland in Alto Secrets, book two in The Choir Girls series. Maddie Ryland is an amazing volleyball player. She fits right in with her sport-centered family. But when Maddie is invited to join the Aspen Junior High Art Club, her secret dream of painting looks like it can become reality. The only problem is her parents want her to play club volleyball at the rec center. So, Maddie tells her parents that her school has a club team, and she’d rather join that. Only there is no club team at the school. Maddie’s lie about the volleyball team starts an avalanche of other lies she has to tell in order to keep her spot in the art club. It’s only a matter of time until Maddie’s lies catch up with her. What will her parents say?

The Choir Girls series is a series of books for middle grade readers, ages 9-12. Alto Secrets is now available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble.com, and the TouchPoint Press bookstore. You can read the first chapter of Alto Secrets by clicking this link: http://eepurl.com/cDNMCH

Book one, Soprano Trouble, is also available. The remaining books in the series, Harmony Blues and Solo Disaster will be also be released in 2017.

About Victoria:

Victoria is a wife, a mom to three girls, a full-fledged homebody, a so-so housekeeper, a mediocre musician and has dreamed of writing her whole life. She lives at the foot of the Rockies in Littleton, Colorado and she will never take that for granted. She loves French fries, superhero TV shows and movies, and cats. She could probably love the beach if she ever spent any time there.
