Wade Webster—truck driver turned writer for Jesus

What in the world is God going to do with a quirky country bumpkin from a small farm in rural Michigan?

To begin with He gives him a mother who loves Jesus deeply. Then He throws him in the middle of a family of seven kids who all love Jesus, too.

The result is a kid who gives his heart to Jesus so young he doesn’t remember not being born-again. In fact the gospel message remains so exciting to him he gives his heart to Jesus repeatedly for several years.

With no clear leading after high school for a career he goes to tiny Grace Bible College in Wyoming, Michigan to see how God might lead him into ministry. After three years he comes away married to his college sweetheart and several closed doors for his future.

While deciding what direction to take he hears God’s voice clearly. “I know your heart. Remain faithful to Me. I’ll let you know when I’m ready to use you.”

When one of his soccer buddies “accidentally” knocks on his apartment door in search of someone else the opportunity comes to him to deliver stuff for one of the college board member’s companies. The result is a career as a truck driver for the next few decades.

Fast-forward to the age of 47. When college-sweetheart wife is too tired to stay up he listens to a preacher on the radio tell about how God is overjoyed whenever a new believer gives their heart to Jesus.

This leads to a simple, heartfelt prayer. “Break me. Break me. Use me.”

Not knowing how, or if, God would answer said prayer he goes about his regular life.

Within a couple of weeks an idea for a book comes to him to present life lessons in a way that young adults would grasp. These life lessons come from things he wants to tell his children if he had any, which he didn’t.

Such is the life story of Wade Webster, author of the new book 100 PRAYERS OF A WRITER.

There’s no doubt in my mind that writing, and speaking, are God’s call on my life.

Writing puts me in my happy place. Telling people about Jesus grounds me in what’s important in life. It’s His kingdom I’m doing my part to build, not mine.

Look for not one, not two, but three new books this Christmas by me, two fiction books and a devotional.

Don’t be surprised if a children’s storybook app by Wade shows up by then as well.

Yeah, God is using me in extraordinary ways these days.
