Writing Challenge Day Three

Day 3:

Write a setting based on the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen.

Down below, the water sparkled in the sun like a million jewels floated just below the surface. Carolyn looked as far out to sea as she could. A cruise ship entered the harbor, seeking refuge from the coming storm. As the vessel neared, passengers lined the decks, waving to the people on the beach below. Carolyn wondered about these people. Where did they live? What kind of jobs did they do? She looked to her left and marveled at the swimmers so far out from shore, at the dive boats coming in at the end of the day, at the sunbathers clustered around the pool. The white sand looked so inviting. She wiggled her bare toes, remembering the silky feel on her feet. Poolside, a waiter moved with grace and balance amongst the guests, removing empty glasses and replacing them with new drinks. Sweat dribbled down the sides of the beer bottles like a rain shower, and people laughed as if they didn’t have a care in the world.

What is the most beautiful setting you have ever seen?
