Writing Autobiographies


Have you ever wanted to write your own autobiography? Cec Murphy is running a series on how to write an autobiography. He has a lot of tips on the subject.


The first and most obvious way is to tell the story chronologically. Here is what happened and in this order.
You set up the story with events that led up to the major occurrences or achievements. A few times I’ve started with a prolog—set up a powerful event which brought readers to a dramatic point, and withheld the crucial information until later in the book. That was to build suspense.
