The First Five Pages


The first five pages of a novel are critical. Frequently, only the first page of a novel will make or break what a reader will purchase or even what an editor will look at. I think it  is important to understand what the most important elements are in the first five pages of a novel.

It is important to let the reader know who the main character is, where the story is taking place and the time period, and begin the scene with action.
